The debate so far
In the Seventh Senedd, transport debate has centred on the M4 around Newport, the Menai crossings and the Plaid Cymru Government's first transport statements. Members have also argued over rail devolution and funding, bus reform and the north-south coach service, the default 20 mph limit and school transport. Reform UK, Conservative and Labour Members have pressed ministers on cost, timing and detail.
The main arguments
- On 6 October Mark Hooper (Plaid Cymru) announced 18 months of work on roads-based and engineering solutions for the M4 at Newport, plus maintenance. Natasha Asghar and Andrew RT Davies (Welsh Conservatives) argue the black route is the real solution.
