Question
Will the Cabinet Minister confirm whether the Welsh Government is considering calling in planning application 26/00109/HYB, Cardiff East Park and Ride, for determination under section 77 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, and if so, what is the current status of that consideration?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Minister for Local Government, Housing and Planning (Siân Gwenllian)
Welsh Ministers are currently considering requests to call in planning application 26/00109/HYB under section 77 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990. A holding direction was issued on 24 August 2026 under the Town and Country Planning (Development Management Procedure) (Wales) Order 2012 to allow time for those requests to be considered. Whilst the direction remains in force, Cardiff Council may continue to assess the application but may not grant planning permission. No decision has yet been made on whether the application will be called in for determination by Welsh Ministers.
