Question
What assessment the Welsh Government has made of teaching vacancies across Welsh-medium schools in Wales?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Education and the Welsh Language
The Welsh Government is not responsible for the employment of teachers in Wales. This responsibility sits with Local Authorities or other employing bodies. The Welsh Government uses a model to project the desired stock of new teachers required to enter the service in future years. This informs the required recruitment levels onto Initial Teacher Education programmes to support this.
