Question
What assessment has the Minister made of the lessons Wales can learn from the Irish Government's Tobacco Free Ireland plan?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing
Our Tobacco Control Strategy A Smoke-free Wales and first two-year Delivery Plan Towards a Smoke-Free Wales 2022-2024 set out our ambition for Wales to be smoke-free by 2030, and identify a series of themes and actions to shape our approach towards achieving a smoke-free society.
In developing our tobacco control approach for Wales, we undertook a thorough review of the evidence and were keen to learn from the approaches and experiences of other Governments and administrations to address tobacco, including the actions they had taken and their impact. This included the recommendations made in the document Tobacco Free Ireland.
