Question
What discussions has the Welsh Government had with other governments who have rolled out deposit-return schemes?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Climate Change
In collaboration with the other UK administrations, we have been working hard to ensure that we draw from international best practice to deliver the best possible Deposit Return Scheme which not only deliver key environmental outcomes but will also support the sector to decarbonise as we transition to a zero waste and net zero carbon Wales. We have discussed the implementation of deposit return schemes with a number of countries, including schemes in Europe, such as Finland, Estonia and Lithuania, as well as elsewhere from around the world, including Alberta in Canada and learning from the schemes in Australia.
