Question
Will the Minister confirm what financial incentives the Welsh Government has in place to encourage local authorities to work towards the goal of increasing the number of Welsh-medium schools in their communities?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Education and the Welsh Language
The Welsh-medium capital grant funds capital projects dedicated to supporting and growing the use of the Welsh language in education in line with delivery partners’ Welsh in Education Strategic Plans (WESPs).
Whilst Welsh Medium provision can be included in the Band B Capital Programme (at the usual intervention rates 65% standard, 75% special schools and 85% voluntary aided) the funding available via the Welsh Medium Capital Grant is 100% Welsh Government funded.
