Question
What role does the Welsh Government see for local communities and indigenous knowledge in the preservation and restoration of biodiversity in rural Wales?
Answer
Answered by Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs
We understand the important role local communities play in the preservation and restoration of biodiversity. We support a range of projects and programmes including the Nature Networks Programme, Local Places for Nature, Bee friendly scheme and Natur am Byth, which encourage and support community engagement to deliver a range of biodiversity benefits as well as having wider benefits for health and wellbeing.
The Local Nature Partnerships, supported by us also provides a key role in engaging people and communities.
