Question
Will the Cabinet Secretary confirm the extent to which the proposals in paragraphs 66 and 67 of the White Paper 'Proposals for a Welsh Language Education Bill' regarding the opening of new schools or the reorganisation of education provision in a county have been incorporated in the Welsh Language and Education (Wales) Bill?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Welsh Language
For transparency purposes, the Bill imposes a duty on local authorities to maintain and publish a register that includes, among other elements, the proposed language category of any new schools.
This will give stakeholders an opportunity to express their views on any proposals in relation to new schools at an early stage.
