Question
Will the Cabinet Secretary provide an update on what action they are taking to encourage the production of solar panels in Wales?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning
We are actively encouraging the production of solar panels in Wales. The only UK-based manufacturer of standard solar panels is located in Wales and through our offer to businesses and joint work with the UK Government we are working to attract supply chain opportunities from renewable energy technologies to Wales. We also continue to support Swansea University’s solar research, which has helped them secure funding to advance next-generation photovoltaic technologies—such as perovskite—that use abundant, low-cost materials.
