Question
What assessment has the Cabinet Secretary made of the impact that establishing regional centres of excellence would have on capital investment in new facilities, workforce development, and the sustainable expansion of capacity within the ophthalmology specialty?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care
The National Clinical Strategy for Ophthalmology commits to a regional, clinically-led model of service delivery. It recognises a range of delivery models, including potential collaboration with independent providers, can support regional working where this is NHS‑aligned, clinically governed and integrated with wider eye care pathways.
