Will the Cabinet Secretary provide an update on the implementation of the Disabled People's Rights Plan and the work of the external advisory board?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Trefnydd and Chief Whip
The 10-year Disabled People’s Rights Plan was published in December 2025 and sets out the Welsh Government’s long‑term ambition to advance disabled people’s rights and improve outcomes across Wales.
Delivery of this Plan is underway, and work has already commenced to ensure it is measurable. Welsh Government officials are working with data providers to develop a measurement framework for the Plan. An independent evaluation that will assess the implementation of the Plan in its first two years.
Work is already underway to deliver on a range of cross-government actions.
The External Advisory Board for the Disabled People’s Rights Plan met for the first time on 23 March 2026. Membership currently includes 12 external members and recruitment of a further 3 members will take place in the coming months. An External Advisory Board website will ensure information about the purpose, membership and governance of the board is clear and accessible.
