The debate so far
In the Seventh Senedd, the NHS debate has centred on waiting lists. The Plaid Cymru Government promises surgical hubs and an end to two-year waits, while Labour presses for a date. Members have also argued over intervention at Betsi Cadwaladr, changes to hospitals and community beds in west Wales and Powys, GP and dental access, and jobs for newly qualified nurses and midwives. Maternity safety, emergency care, social care and winter planning also featured.
The main arguments
- Waiting times: Mabon ap Gwynfor (Plaid Cymru) set out 10 surgical and diagnostic hubs, £145 million this year and an end to two-year waits within months. Ken Skates and Huw Thomas (Welsh Labour) say waits fell under Labour's £120 million and ask for a firm date.
