How is the Welsh Government supporting apprenticeships in the defence sector?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Deputy Minister for Skills and Tertiary Education (Cefin Campbell)
Apprenticeships within the Armed Forces are primarily managed in-house by the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces themselves.
External providers may deliver selected training elements, while defence contractors provide specialist training and workplace experience. This includes BAE Systems, Airbus and Rolls-Royce who actively partner with the Ministry of Defence to offer apprenticeships.
Through Medr, the Welsh Government supports a range of apprenticeship frameworks and pathways, including engineering, manufacturing, digital and leadership occupations, which can support skills development within the defence and aerospace sectors.
