What action is the Welsh Government taking to address any pressures on public services caused by its Nation of Sanctuary policy?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Trefnydd and Chief Whip
The Welsh Government does not determine who comes to Wales or how many people are placed here. Those decisions remain the responsibility of the UK Government.
The Welsh Government’s focus is on helping those who do arrive to settle, access services appropriately, and contribute to Welsh society. One of our core principles under the Nation of Sanctuary vision is integration from day one: providing integration support services and information as quickly as possible to help individuals orientate themselves to a new place and culture. We provide funding for targeted integration and advice services, which help to reduce demands on public services.
We continue to work closely with local authorities and other partners to ensure support is well-coordinated, sustainable, and responsive to local needs.
