What steps is the Welsh Government taking to ensure that Cymraeg 2050 is achievable?

Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Welsh Language
The Welsh Government is taking a range of steps to implement our Cymraeg 2050 strategy and to achieve the targets of a million Welsh speakers and doubling the daily use of Welsh by 2050. This includes implementing the Welsh Language and Education (Wales) Act 2025 which aims to ensure that by 2050 all pupils leave compulsory as independent and confident Welsh speakers and introduces a new way of describing Welsh language ability based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. We are also implementing the recommendations of the first phase of the Commission for Welsh-speaking Communities, and supporting the Commission with the second phase of its report. We also continue to fund a range of activities in communities across Wales to provide opportunities for people to learn and use their Welsh language skills.
