Further to your WQ 96809 of July 2025. The feasibility study has been completed. The report demonstrated there was no issue with speed limit compliance however there is a problem with re-occurring overtaking over the solid white lines. The following options were taken forward to design stage:
· Additional signage and road markings to reinforce the speed limit and presence of ‘hidden dips’, including extension of the solid white lines.
· Refreshment of existing road markings and High Friction Surfacing.
· Explore CCTV solutions with analytics to support Operation Snap and automate detection of double white line violations.
Detailed design for the signing and road marking is ongoing and due for delivery in the new financial year subject to funding.
The CCTV option will not be progressed at this stage, but officials will monitor the effectiveness of the signing and lining options and will revisit the provision of CCTV in the future if deemed necessary.
